Woman Indicted in Murder of Daughter-in-Law Who Was Divorcing Her Son
Elizabeth "Betsy" Wall, 63, allegedly shot the mother of her two grandsons, 35-year-old Jenna Charlton Wall, four times in her Georgia home.
A Georgia woman has been indicted in the murder of her daughter-in-law, who was in the process of a contentious divorce from her son, authorities said.
Elizabeth “Betsy” Wall, 63, allegedly shot the mother of her two grandsons, 35-year-old Jenna Charlton Wall, four times in the kitchen of her Cobb County home on June 23, police said.
The boys, ages 7 and 8, were reportedly home at the time of the shooting but not harmed.
After the shooting, authorities said Wall called her son, an investigator with the Paulding County District Attorney’s Office, asking him to get his sons, the Atlanta-Journal Constitution reported.
She allegedly researched shootings and bought a gun two months before the murder, police said.

Her daughter-in-law and son were in the middle of a bitter divorce, during which Charlton Wall was accused of cheating on her husband, court documents claim.
Charlton Wall allegedly had an "emotional and physical relationship" with a high school boyfriend for at least four months during their 10-year-long marriage, according to Jerrod Wall’s counterclaim for divorce on the basis of adultery.
“Her bad acts are the direct cause of the dissolution of the parties’ marriage and family,” the counterclaim read.
He also alleged that Charlton Wall “demonstrated emotional and financial instability” and wanted to be named the primary custodial parents of their boys.

Charlton Wall’s family and friends were devastated by the killing, remembering the slain Kemp Elementary School kindergarten teacher as a caring and loving woman.
“The thing I remember most is her smile. She was always smiling and so sweet,” a friend wrote on Facebook.
“You know she's one of those friends your kids grew up with at the ballfield/gym every spring-summer and attended school with almost all their young lives. That you became friends with the whole family and maybe didn't see as often as you did back in the day but can always just pick up where you left off,” another friend posted. “Overwhelming sadness for her sons, sisters, her mom and dad.”
Elizabeth Wall was indicted Thursday on charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of firearm during commission of a felony and two counts of cruelty to children in the third degree.
She is being held without bond.
