President Obama is finally addressing Donald Trump's very vocal support of the birther movement. INSIDE EDITION reports.
President Obama fired back at Donald Trump's "birther" campaign during an interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos.
"All of us have been struck by Donald Trump rising to the top of the Republican field by feeding fantasies about your background. What do you make of that?" Stephanopoulos asked him.
"Most people feel pretty confident the President was born where he says he was, in Hawaii. He doesn't have horns," said President Obama. "We're not really worrying about conspiracy theories or birth certificates."
The latest CNN poll says Trump is now tied for the lead for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination. Meanwhile, Trump is responding to growing criticism among some African-Americans who believe his birther campaign is race-based.
"I have a great relationship with the blacks. I've always had a great relationship with the blacks," Trump said during a radio interview with Talk 1300.
But singer John Legend told New York Magazine, "He needs to stop saying that racist [expletive]. He should be ashamed of himself."
Even Star Jones, who's now featured on Trump's Celebrity Apprentice, tweeted: "I don't engage in that silly "birther" debate. Folk need to deal with the fact that the brown man with the ethnic name IS POTUS."
But Trump won't back down, and continues to ask, "Why doesn't he give his birth certificate?"
