Footage shows the 55-year-old actor slamming into a wall on the set. After the incident, he looked confused as if the stunt clearly did not go as planned.
The actor was attached to a pulley system and managed to hoist himself up after the incident, but was limping and took a few seconds to regain his composure before hobbling back.
Cruise is famous for performing his own stunts, from jumping out of the tallest building in the world in Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol to dangling on the side of a plane in Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation.
At the premiere of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol in 2011 Cruise told Inside Edition what goes through his mind as he performs death-defying stunts.

“Don't fall — I don't wanna fall," he said. "When you get into something like that, when you're doing stunts, I’m so focused on the shot, the next shot and what we're trying to do a lot of times. I’m just trying to let people know it's OK and keep everyone calm."
He added he does his own stunts because: “I wanna entertain the audience in the best possible way that I can, and it's also a challenge to do that."
