Reese Witherspoon had a major scare after a car hit her while she was jogging in Santa Monica.
The accident happened at an intersection in a quiet residential area of Santa Monica. There is still blood on the sidewalk from a gash she suffered on her head.
Eyewitnesses said Witherspoon was jogging across the street when the car, driven by an 84-year-old woman, hit her, throwing Witherspoon into the air. She landed on the grass nearby.
Witherspoon was bleeding from the head and taken to the emergency room. The elderly driver was ticketed for not stopping for a pedestrian.
The driver reportedly helped Witherspoon stop the bleeding by putting a towel on the wound.
A witness says the driver told Witherspoon, "Please don't sue me. I have nothing." Witherspoon reportedly replied she "wouldn't think" of suing.
After a brief visit to the ER, where she was patched up, the actress was released and her rep says she is "resting comfortably at home"
Witherspoon is one of Hollywood's highest-paid actresses, earning an estimated $28 million in 2010.
