An Ohio schoolteacher has been convicted of having sex with five students, some from the football team, after a judge rejected her insanity defense INSIDE EDITION has the story.
A distraught mother lashed out at the high school teacher convicted of having sex with five students.
She told the courtroom, "As his mother, I'm devastated […] She played on their emotions, she crossed the line."
Stacy Schuler wiped away tears as she listened to the anguished parents. The gym teacher was accused of luring the 17-year-old boys, most of them members of the high school football team, to her home for orgies fueled by vodka smoothies and marijuana.
The boys testified that Schuler had sex with two and even three of them at the same time, in her bedroom, kitchen, and even in the shower.
The boys weren't shown on camera as they testified against her.
"We had no idea that this was going to happen and we were like, what is going on? We think she wants to have sex with us," one student testified.
"She started giving us all back massages. She like gave us all each individually. We all took our shirts off and she was just rubbing down our backs," another said.
A third testified, "They were making out and she pressed her body up against mine, and then, um, we started having sex."
The defense claimed that Stacy Schuler was not guilty by reason of insanity. Her attorney says she is bipolar and that she doesn't remember having sex with the boys because she was under the influence of alcohol and the anti-depressant medication Zoloft.
But the Ohio prosecutor argued that Schuler knew exactly what she was doing, saying, "She got drunk and made some really poor choices. Does that mean she's insane? No!"
And there was damning testimony from a student who said the teacher had even prepared a defense in the event she was ever caught.
"She told me that if anybody ever found out, that she already had her defense planned out, and she would try and say that she was insane," the student told the court.
It took the judge just 45 minutes to render a guilty verdict.
The 33-year-old teacher, wearing a demure long dress, her hair tied up, showed no emotion as she was convicted of 16 counts of sexual battery.
She waved to her parents and blew them a kiss before being handcuffed and led off to begin serving her four-year prison sentence.
Schuler is eligible for parole in six months, but she will be labeled a sex offender and will have to register her address every 90 days for the rest of her life.
