Kim Kardashian cut her trip to Australia short to return home and do damage control after filing for divorce from her husband of 72 days, Kris Humphries. INSIDE EDITION has the latest.
A besieged Kim Kardashian is back in the United States. She flew in from Australia, and when she landed in Los Angeles she faced the same frenzy that's now greeting her every move.
"Kim K Ends Tour After Splitting Headaches" is a headline from the New York Daily News.
Kim's reps also say she missed her family too much and needed to be home in the wake of the 72-day marriage scandal.
Amazingly, she tried to give the press the slip by using a body double, surrounded by 20 bodyguards. The Kim lookalike strode through the terminal in Sydney like a superstar. Meanwhile, the real Kim, sister Khloe, and Khloe's husband Lamar Odom quietly slipped into the airport via a loading dock.
Before she left, Kim and sister Khloe were treated like rock stars at a mall in Australia, where they were met with screaming fans.
And we're now finding out how Kim broke the news to her family that she was splitting from husband Kris Humphries.
"I know this seems crazy," she wrote in an e-mail. "I've spent the last few months struggling with my marriage. I am embarrassed that I took everyone on this journey with me and had this huge wedding. But I have to be happy so I have to let this relationship go. Kris is a great guy...But he isn't what I thought when we first met."
INSIDE EDITION found the 6' 9" basketball star leaving a gym near his parents' house in Minnesota. Earlier in the week he was seen wearing his wedding ring, but not now.
"I do think that, you know, as the week has gone on he perhaps realized, you know, this is over," says People magazine's Jen Garcia.
Meanwhile, Kim's mother Kris Jenner is facing heat after making this crack about Kim's 20-carat engagement ring on Good Morning America:
"I hate an Indian giver, don't you? I mean, it's a gift!"
The National Congress of American Indians called the comments "Wrong and hurtful." The group is demanding that Kris apologize.
There is some happy news from camp Kardashian. Despite the controversy, there's no sign that the Kardashians are steering clear of big events.
Kim's half-sister Kendall Jenner turned 16 on November 3rd and the family is planning a giant blowout Sweet 16 party. And get this: the party, like Kim Kardashian's multi-million dollar wedding, will be televised in an E! Channel special.
