Kim Kardashian Is Fighting Back Against Backlash

Kim Kardashian is fighting back against a report claiming her family is profiting from child labor.

"This story is 100% not true," a representative of the Kardashians tells INSIDE EDITION.

Star Magazine splashes the claim on its cover this week. It says items sold under the K-Dash by Kardashian label, the Kris Jenner Kollection, and Kim Kardashian's Shoedazzle line are made in regions of China where factory workers are paid as little as $1 an hour, and some workers are as young as 16 years old.

The director of an anti-child labor group was quoted by Star Magazine as saying, "The Kardashians are in bed with some pretty bad people." Now he tells INSIDE EDITION that he "has no specific proof that the Kardashian's factories violate human rights, but says they would be the exception."

Kim also finds herself under attack from a new website calling for a boycott of the reality star. The site states: "We will not continue to allow Kim Kardashian to exploit the American public and media for personal and financial gain."

The site is clearly hitting a nerve. So far, more than 277,000 people have signed the petition.

INSIDE EDITION spoke to PR expert, Mike Paul. "A boycott of this kind is never a good thing. What other people think is exactly what the court of public opinon is all about, it matters," said Paul.

Conan O'Brien cracked a joke on Tuesday nights show about Kim.

O'Brien said, "It has been reported that Kim Kardashian exchanged most of her wedding gifts that she got for Rolex watches that she gave to her family. In Kim's defence, the Kardashian's will need the watches to figure out when their fifteen minutes are up."

But the Kardashians are probably laughing all the way to the bank. The ratings for their reality shows remain solid. And Kim is #4 on Twitter's list of the most followed stars. Just this week she just reached 12 million followers, tweeting, "omg best christmas gift ever!!! I love you guys so much!"
