Los Angeles Arsonist Latest
INSIDE EDITION has the latest on Harry Burkhart, the man police say is a person of interest for allegedly causing the Los Angeles Fires.
We're learning more about the 24-year-old native of Germany who police say terrorized Los Angeles. He lives on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood.
Accused arsonist Harry Burkhart told cops, "I hate America."
The suspect and his mother lived together in a one bedroom apartment upstairs and from the vantage point of a front window he could have actually watched some of the the fires burning.
Burkhart's mother, Dorothee, is linked to an erotic website, Hollywood Tantra Massage, which offers sexual services from a tantra goddess.
Burkhart's anger towards America apparently stems from his mother's pending deportation. He actually caused a disturbance at a hearing on her case two weeks ago.
An immigration official at that hearing recognized Burkhart on a surveillance video on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, walking away after allegedly setting one of the fires.
Now the volunteer in the Sheriff's department who pulled over the suspect's minivan is being hailed as a hero.
Shervin Lalezary, who was born in Iran, is a Beverly Hills Real Estate lawyer by day and is paid just a dollar a year as a reservist in the Sheriff's department.
"I'll tell you what, this is a lot more exciting than my day job," said Lalezary at a press conference.
