Sarah Palin On Katie Couric
The ratings are in for Sarah Palin's appearance as guest co-host of the Today show, up against Katie Couric on Good Morning America. INSIDE EDITION has the story.
Is John McCain really suggesting Sarah Palin as the Republican Vice-Presidential nominee—or just having a little fun with the idea?
The senator appeared on CBS This Morning, when the question came up.
"There's been some talk about the choice of a vice president for the eventual nominee, and what that choice should entail. Sarah Palin has said that she thinks the nominee, if it is in fact Mitt Romney, should 'go rogue.' What's your advice?" asked Erica Hill.
"I think it should be Sarah Palin," replied McCain.
His sheepish smile said it all. The drama—and attention—that Palin brought to McCain's presidential campaign four years ago was just depicted in the HBO movie Game Change.
"Obviously it's a tough decision," said McCain.
And Palin herself is speaking out about her morning TV showdown with Katie Couric.
"It wasn't just a coincidence that I was on this morning, up against some competition down the plaza," Sarah Palin said on the Sean Hannity Show.
The match-up between Palin on the Today show and Couric on Good Morning America is the talk of television. The latest ratings show Palin drew 5.5 million viewers, 350,000 more than Couric.
"I am one for good competition," said Palin.
Appearing with Sean Hannity on the FOX News channel, Palin couldn't resist getting in one more jab at Couric—whose questions so damaged her reputation in the last national election. It happened when she was asked about Katie Couric's questions.
Palin said, "I've had worse in interviews, you know, with questions like, 'What do you read up there in Alaska to stay connected with the real world?' Where you're rolling your eyes like, 'Are you kidding me? Are you really asking me such a question?'"
But Palin said she was pleased she did it.
"It was a blast, lots of energy, lots of chaos," said Palin.
Palin's appearance provided Jon Stewart with plenty of material.
"It's Sarah Palin co-hosting the Today show, and she was there performing a medley of her greatest hits, from 'I don't read newspapers,' to 'I write on my hand' to that old chestnut 'I passive-aggressively hate Matt Lauer with every ounce of my being,'" joked Stewart.
