Gregg Allman's band, The Allman Brothers, was huge in the 70's when Cher came to see him perform in Los Angeles. After only a few dates, they were living together, but it was Cher who proposed marriage.

Allman told INSIDE EDITION's Les Trent about the proposal, "I said, 'What in the world are you talking about?'"

After they wed they made their only record together, Allman thinks it's terrible. In the book he wrote, "I was really glad that she never asked me what I thought of her singing, because I'm sorry, but she's not a very good singer."

A People magazine cover from 1976 shows the family is happier times. It featured Cher's daughter, Chastity, now known as Chaz, and their son Elijah Blue, now 36. The couple divorced in 1979 after Allman admits his drug problem proved too much to handle.
