Outrage soars over surveillance video showing a health inspector fondling a donut shop employee. INSIDE EDITION has the story.
Outrage at an incident caught on tape. A donut shop owner struggled with a health inspector who was fondling her. He tried to hug her but she squirmed out of his grasp. Then he grabbed her by the wrist, pulled her close and put his arms around her.
The surveillance video showed she did everything she could to resist, but he wouldn't let go. The disturbing surveillance video was shot in the back room of Pixie Donuts in Pomona, California.
It all started when the store owner left the shop to pick their children up at school, leaving his wife alone with the health inspector.
Tim McDonough, the woman's lawyer, told INSIDE EDITION she didn't want to tell anyone what happened at first. She and her husband are Cambodian immigrants who've lived in the United States for the past 20 years. She was afraid the health inspector might close down their shop if she didn't do what he wanted.
"She was at first, embarrassed, offended, concerned, and confused and frustrated because she didn't know how to deal with this," said McDonough.
The health inspector has been placed on unpaid leave while cops investigate the sexual assault complaint that has been filed against him.
When INSIDE EDITION caught up with the health inspector at home and asked if he could confirm that it was him in the surveillance video, he said, "I'm sorry," and closed the door.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health released this statement:
"We are fully cooperating with all authorities. If the allegations are proved to be correct, we will take swift and decisive action."
