Chad Johnson Arrested After Allegedly Headbutting His Wife
NFL star Chad Johnson was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly headbutted his wife in during an argument. INSIDE EDITION has the details.
Fans loved the way Chad Ochocinco lit up the football field and the dance floor on Dancing with the Stars.
But now, Chad Johnson, he's gone back to using his real name, is in big trouble after an altercation with his new wife.
He was arrested on Saturday night in Davies, Florida, and charged with battery and domestic violence against wife Evelyn Lozada. Johnson is accused of head butting his wife during an argument. A police officer who responded said she had a three-inch gash on her forehead. Police said Johnson claimed he andhis wife accidently butted heads.
The arrest led to an immediate response from Johnson's current team, Miami Dolphins —they fired him on the spot.
The Dolphins head coach said in a press conferance, "We sat down and we talked and we were very clear, I was very clear about the expectations of the program. It just didn't work out."
Johnson's wife is a star of the Vh1 series, Basketball Wives. She's known for her volatile and combative ways.
Rumors that the case is a publicity stunt are being shut down by fellow members.
Royce Reed told INSIDE EDITION, "This one kind of took me by surprise. I am a little shocked and sad."
The couple had a reality show about their life together that was set to premiere September 3rd. That's led some to wonder whether the incident over the weekend was a publicity stunt.
Reed said, "Obviously they love the camera, but in terms of going that low for publicity, I don't think either one of them would do that."
Vh1 just issued this statement: "Due to the unfortunate events over the weekend and the seriousness of the allegations, Vh1 is pulling the series Ev and Ocho from its schedule and has no current plans of airing."
