Justin Bieber Photo Sparks Cutting Hoax
Tweets of Justin Bieber fans cutting themselves over a photo of him appearing to smoke marijuana caused alarm, but, as it turns out, it was a hoax. INSIDE EDITION has the details.
Have Justin Bieber's fans taken thier devotion to the pop star to a scary new level?
Ever since Bieber was photographed smoking a suspicious looking cigarette reported to be marijuana, the term #cut4bieber started trending on Twitter. The idea, was to cut your arms to pressure Bieber to stop smoking pot.
"Let's start a cut yourself for Bieber campaign," said one tweet.
It quickly became the top trend on Twitter in the U.S.
And it outraged Whoopi Goldberg who said, "This cutting yourself, don't do that! That's not good!"
But it turns out it was all a hoax. A closer look at the cuts show they are made of ketchup. And the prankster who first created the phony Twitter account posted a photo of a real missing child, claiming she was a girl who was cutting herself for Bieber.
Bieber's pal, Miley Cyrus has come forward to say this hoax is not funny.
"Cutting is not something to joke about. There are people who are actually suffering from self-harm, this is so disrespectful," said Cyrus.
