Hugh Jackman Speaks Of Stalker Scare
Hugh Jackman tells INSIDE EDITION the details surrounding his terrifying scare from a stalker who allegedly threw an electric razor at him.
Actor Hugh Jackman spoke to INSIDE EDITION out about a frightening confrontation with an obsessed stalker at his gym in New York City's Greenwich Village.
Jackman told INSIDE EDITION, "I'm really appreciative of the D.A's office the way they handled it all, and obviously I'm concerned for my family, primarily, and that this woman gets the help she needs."
Forty-seven-year-old Katherine Thurston of Bakersfield, California, is being held on $15,000 bail, charged with stalking the Les Miz star.
"Crazy For Hugh" says the New York Post front page.
The terrifying confrontation happened at the gym. Cops say the alleged stalker approached Jackman at 8 a.m. as he arrived to work out saying, "We're getting married, right?"
She was back again the next day, this time actually following him inside the gym, shouting "I love you!"
She then pulled out an electric razor our of her bag and threw it at him.
Why the electric razor? Jackman hadn't shaved in a few days and cops say the alleged stalker told them, "I hated him having those whiskers."
Jackman says he first thought she was reaching for a gun or a knife, not an electric razor.
"I was unsettled for sure," said Jackman.
Katherine Thurston has apparently been following Jackman around the country for more than a year. He has an outstanding restraining order against her.
She told police, "I was very impressed with X-Men 2, so I started emailing him."
Jackman earned an Oscar® nomination earlier this year for his starring role in Les Miz.
Just last month, cops say the alleged stalker confronted Jackman's wife, Deborah, outside their seven-year-old daughter's school, announcing, "I am going to marry your husband."
After her arrest, cops say she told them, "I want to marry him. It is not against the law to have two wives."
Jackman, known as one of the nicest guys in show business, had these final words, "The D.A.'s office has been real extraordinary. I've got to go work out. My trainer is going to really punish me, so thank you guys."
