Target Refuses To Sell Beyoncé's New Album
Major retail chain Target is boycotting Beyoncé's new album because she released it online before stores could sell it. INSIDE EDITION has the story.
Target is boycotting Beyoncé's new chart-topping album because it was released online first.
Beyoncé stunned fans when she self-released her latest album, nearly a million copies of the album have been downloaded on iTunes.
Starting Friday, the physical album will be available in stores. But not everyone is happy about that. Some stores are actually refusing to sell the album.
Target released this statement: “When a new album is available digitally before it is available physically, it impacts demand and sales... We have appreciated partnering with Beyoncé in the past... At this time Target will not be carrying Beyoncé's new self-titled album Beyoncé."
In the video for “Flawless,” one of the 17 new videos from Beyoncé's album, it includes a vintage clip from Beyoncé's appearance on Star Search. She was 12 years old.
Her group, Girls Tyme lost out to Skeleton Crew.
INSIDE EDITION tracked down Skeleton Crew, who are still together and are thrilled to be known forever as the group that actually beat Beyoncé on Star Search.
INSIDE EDITION’s Paul Boyd asked the band, "When did you first realize that Beyoncé put you in her new video?"
The guitarist said, "My son first told me about it. He said, 'Dad, your old band Skeleton Crew's appearance on Star Search are in the last video on Beyoncé's album.'"
It's been 20 years since Skeleton Crew went up against Beyoncé.
The guitarist said, "We can't thank her enough. My daughter finally thinks I am cool."
