Road Rage Karma Strikes
Payback struck fast for a tailgating driver who flipped off another motorist. INSIDE EDITION has the details.
Talk about payback. A tailgating driver flipped a woman the bird as he passed her on the highway. Seconds later, karma kicked in.
The woman says she was in the fast lane on a rain-slicked highway near Tampa, Florida when the guy in a pick-up got dangerously close.
Fearing for her life, she took out her cell phone and recorded her speed, a legal 55 miles-per-hour. She says she couldn't get out of the way because of traffic. He moved to the passenger's side of her car and then accelerated.
But it wasn’t not over yet. They found themselves side-by-side again. The guy in the pick-up grinned and gave the woman that rude gesture.
INSIDE EDITION's Les Trent asked her, "Was he tailgating you aggressively?"
“Definitely. He was speeding up and slowing down, kind of swerving a little bit,” she said
Trent asked, "So, he drives by you and flips you the bird?"
She told INSIDE EDITION, “He saw the camera and he's like, ‘Oh let me pose for the camera, this'll make her day right?’”
That is when he lost control of his vehicle on the wet highway.
In the video, she could be heard laughing. She said, "That's what you get. All on video, buddy."
It was a serious accident. He spun out, hit a divider, crossed over into the other lanes of traffic and careened onto the grass where he hit a light pole.
The guy in the pick-up truck, identified as Jeffrey White, drove off. Three days later, police came knocking and he was charged with careless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
Trent asked her, "What you were doing was not necessarily safe either. You were shooting behind you. You were shooting beside you and you were driving."
She said, “Yes, but in Florida it's not against the law and because of my video, they were able to identify him.”
The woman, who asked not to be named, posted the video on YouTube, where it's had more than three million hits and counting.
Jimmy Kimmel had a field day with this story, saying on his show, "He hit a slick patch of karma!"
So the next time you even think of tailgating, just remember this story!
