Meghan Markle's Family Tree: See Photos of Her Relatives

Meghan Markle was born August 4, 1981, in Los Angeles, Calif. to Doria Loyce Ragland and Thomas Markle. 

Meghan is Doria Ragland's only daughter. Doria was married to Tom Markle but they divorced when Meghan was 6. Meghan lived with her mother but saw her father regularly. Her bond with her mom remains strong as she and Prince Harry frequently visit her. 

Doria Ragland is a  a social worker and yoga instructor. 

Doria Ragland lives in this home in Los Angeles, Calif. 

The day before the wedding, Meghan and her mom arrived at Windsor Castle for rehearsals. 

There was much family drama prior to the wedding. Meghan's father could not attend due to an illness and her mother was the only member of her family who came to England for the nuptials. 

Meghan Markle did not invite her half-brother or her half-sister to the wedding. 

As a social studies assignment back in elementary school, Meghan Markle and her classmates watched some commercials to assess their messages. A commercial for Ivory Dishwashing Liquid really bothered the young girl because it used the word "her." She took matters into her own hands by writing a letter to the soap manufacturer. The company changed the commercial. Her actions led Meghan to an appearance on the cable show ‘Nick News’ in 1993.

Thomas Markle Jr. is Meghan's half-brother. They share the same father. 

Last year, Thomas Markle Jr. gushed about his sister to Inside Edition, saying: "Prince Harry, you are a really lucky guy to have her. She is 110 percent. She is just one of a kind and you could not ask for a better woman."

Thomas Markle Jr. lives in Oregon. 

Samantha Grant Markle is Meghan's half-sister. Like her brother, Thomas Markle Jr., she and Samantha share the same dad, but have different mothers. 

Samantha, who has multiple sclerosis and uses a wheelchair, told Inside Edition in 2016 that her sister would be ready to take on the role of a princess.

"Meghan’s already been in public quite a bit in positions that require a bit of elegance and composure and of course she'll fit in perfectly," she said.

Meghan Markle's estranged half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., who wrote a nasty letter to Prince Harry urging him to call off the wedding in early May, landed in London prior to the wedding, but was never invited.

Grant was asked about the controversy surrounding her family members in the days leading up to the wedding, which have been blasted as an "embarrassment" in the U.K. 

"With all due respect, it is not just about her and for some reason the world is so set on her being the priority," Grant told Inside Edition. "What about everyone else?"

Tyler Dooley is Meghan's nephew. He is the son of her half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr. 

Tyler and Meghan were very close. He recently shared home video footage from 1991 with Inside Edition that shows him being held by Meghan. 

"She was the fun one," Dooley told Inside Edition. "She was the one who just [said to] us, ‘Hey, yeah, you can stay up late.' She was so cool; I wanted to be just like her."

Tyler Dooley's mother Tracy is divorced from Thomas Markle Jr. 

Before meeting Prince Harry, Meghan was married to film producer Trevor Engelson. They met in 2004 and married in Jamaica in 2011. 

After six years of dating and two years of marriage, Engelson and Markle divorced in 2013, citing "irreconcilable differences."

Meghan Markle began dating Prince Harry in 2016 after being set up by a mutual friend. Last fall, the couple got engaged, leading the British royal family to break tradition since Markle is a divorcee.

Move over John, Paul, George, and Ringo — there is a new "Fab Four" for a new generation. 

Now that Meghan Markle has said "I do" to Prince Harry, she can count Prince William and his wife Kate as her in-laws. 

In mid-March, the American royal-to-be made her first appearance with Queen Elizabeth II to mark Commonwealth Day Service. Markle sat behind her future in-laws — the Queen, Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla. 

The Queen's husband, Prince Philip, made a rare appearance following Christmas Day services last December. He was later pictured outside the Church of St. Mary Magdalene with Meghan and Harry.

Meghan and Harry were married May 19 at Windsor Castle. The former actress, who is American, was baptized into the Anglican Church in March by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Following their nuptials at Windsor Castle, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were renamed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
