Have 'Yeti' Footprints Been Found in India?
Social media had fun with the Indian Army's tweet.
The yeti lives — or so claims the Indian Army.
The verified Twitter account of the Indian Army shared photos Monday of what it said were footprints of the "mythical beast Yeti." They appeared as dark tracks in the snow on Makalu Base Camp, a mountainous area between Tibet and Nepal. The tweet said the prints measured 32 inches by 15 inches.
The yeti is known in Nepalese folklore as an incredibly tall ape-like creature that lives in the mountains. It is also called the abominable snowman in the West.
Social media had fun with the Indian Army's tweet. Users shared incredulous jokes, memes and gifs in response to the photos.
The Indian Army didn't provide any further explanation or evidence of its claims.
