Quick-Thinking Bartender Leaps Over Table to Save Customer Choking on Burger

Patrick Fagan jumped into action after the customer began choking at his San Diego restaurant.

A quick-thinking bartender leaped into action to save the life of a patron who was choking on a bite of hamburger.

Patrick Fagan jumped over the bar at the Regal Seagull in San Diego and performed the Heimlich maneuver on a man who was shaking his head and pointing to his throat.

"He turned around looked at me and I yelled at him 'Are you OK?'  He shook his head and pointed to his throat," Fagan told INSIDE EDITION.

Fagan hadn't performed the Heimlich maneuver before, and he had to try a few times before the offending morsel of burger was expelled from the customer's throat.

Herb Pomerance said he didn't mind. He's just glad to be alive.

"It will be ingrained in my mind for the rest of my life," Pomerance said. "Him coming over the bar. There was no hesitation."

Surveillance camera footage captured the moment  Fagan saved his customer's life.

And after that, Pomerance went back to his hamburger.
