The 49-year-old Australian casino mogul is said to have broken off their engagement after fallout over the singer’s "extravagant spending" and her new E! reality show Mariah's World.

"James had huge reservations about Mariah’s new reality TV show and the fact that she was willing to expose their lives to the world,” a source close to Packer was quoted as telling Woman’s Day.

The “Heartbreaker” singer has not commented on the split.

The duo were engaged in January after he proposed in Capri, Italy. He has reportedly allowed her to keep the 35-caret engagement ring he gave her during the proposal.

Carey was previously married to TV personality and musician Nick Cannon in 2008. They divorced in 2014 and have 5-year-old twins together, Moroccan and Monroe.

The "Always Be My Baby" singer was also married to record executive Tommy Mottola from 1993 to 1998.

Packer has also been married twice. His first marriage to Jodhi Meares lasted from 1999 to 2002. Five years later, he married to Erica Packer from 2007 to 2013.

Carey has canceled a slew of South American dates this month. However, a string of holiday concerts slated for New York's Beacon Theater is currently still on.
