New Museum Exhibit Honors Search and Rescue Dogs of 9/11

On the eve of the 20th anniversary of America’s darkest day, the memory of that fateful morning is still vivid. A new museum exhibit is paying tribute to the unsung heroes of 9/11, the search and rescue dogs who combed through the rubble of the World Trade Center searching for survivors. Retired NYPD K9 Officer Steve Smaldon and his dog Hanson spent 150 days on the pile. Just as they do every year, the loved ones of those who perished in the attacks will gather to read their names aloud.
