Police Crossing Guard Who Saved Girl Honored by Maryland Governor

February 9, 2022

A real-life superhero jumped into action to save a little girl — but she wasn’t wearing a cape. Crossing guard Corporal Annette Goodyear, who is also a police officer, was on duty in North East, Maryland, when 11-year-old Violet Watt entered the crosswalk. She held her hand up to signal for the oncoming car to stop, but the vehicle wasn’t slowing down. Just as it was about to strike Violet, she pushed the girl out of the way and was hit. The governor is honoring her heroism.
