Population of ‘Vulnerable’ Snow Leopards May Be on the Rise in China

Snow leopards have powerful builds, and can grow to be five feet long. But unlike their big cat cousins, their vocal cords don’t have a certain kind of elastic fiber tissue to produce that distinctive big cat roar. Snow leopards live in the spare, high altitude regions. The markings on their thick coats help them blend in with the rocky terrain, and they can climb steep hills with their strong legs. Snow leopards are considered a "vulnerable" species.
