Tonya Harding’s Mom Defends Her After Nancy Kerrigan Attack: ‘She’s Just a Kid’

In January 1994, Tonya Harding found herself at the center of a national scandal after her skating rival Nancy Kerrigan was attacked. Harding denied any involvement in the incident, and her mother, LaVona Fay Golden, stood by her side. In February 1994, after Harding’s husband pleaded guilty to racketeering in connection with the assault, Inside Edition spoke to Golden while Harding was at skating practice. She said her daughter had nothing to do with the attack.
