WWII Soldier’s Body Returns Home for Burial 72 Years After Plane Was Shot Down

A 73-year-old woman received the stunning news that her father’s remains were discovered. His plane was shot down during World War II. Barbara O'Brien's father, Robert Mains, was a pilot who was sent overseas to fight just hours after his daughter was born. "I was an infant, I was just born, he held me for one day and then he had to fight in the war," she told Inside Edition. Mains was 27 when he was shot down over Germany, just one month before they surrendered.
