Bethenny Frankel's On-Again, Off-Again Boyfriend Found Dead in Trump Tower Apartment: Report

Dennis Shields and Frankel began dating in 2016.

"Real Housewives of New York City" star and business mogul Bethenny Frankle's on-and-off boyfriend Dennis Shields was found dead in his apartment in Trump Tower Friday, according to reports.

Shields, 51, is believed to have overdosed on prescription pills, according to the New York Post. He asked his assistant to administer Narcan, medication used to reverse the effects of opioids, about 9 a.m., the Post reported.

Police responded to a 911 call of an unconscious man inside Trump Tower about 9:19 a.m., officials said in a press release. The man, whom authorities later confirmed was Shields, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Frankel and Shields began dating in 2016.

She called her relationship with Shields, a New York banker, complicated during an interview with Steve Harvey in May.

“I’ve been with someone on and off for years,” she said. “It’s like a partnership where if we’re not being teammates and it’s not working and one man is down, then the other man is down. We’re trying to really kind of be good partners and be good teammates and I think relationships oddly are — and this sounds cold — but a little bit like business.”

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death. The investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
