Some of music's biggest stars are joining forces to launch a new music streaming service called Tidal.
The brainchild of Jay Z, the service is touted as the first artist-owned platform for streaming music and video. The artists hope that this new venture will give them more control of their own music.
Artists from different genres like Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, Rihanna, Jason Aldean, Daft Punk, Arcade Fire all signed up during a star-studded press conference in New York City on Monday.
Madonna threw her leg up on the table when it was her turn to sign on the dotted line.
Jay Z is launching the company to take on music streaming services like Spotify and Pandora. At the press conference, the rapper and entrepreneur said, “We're going to change the course of history.”
With all these music powerhouses, Tidal is sure to make waves in the future of the business.
Unlike other music streaming services, Tidal will not have a free version. Their budget plan will run you $10-a-month.
