Cops say Carlos Pino, 20, was wearing his seatbelt when he lost control of his car on Tuesday night.

The Winter Haven Police Department explained on Facebook: “He started to slide on the wet roadways as he negotiated the curve. Pino over-corrected losing control of the vehicle and he started to skid sideways. Ultimately, the vehicle struck a curb and left the roadway."

After veering off the road, his car smashed into a tree.

The police continued: "The impact of the crash caused the vehicle to split in two with the front engine compartment on one side of the tree and the vehicle’s cab coming to a rest on the opposite side of the tree."
