After Lamar Odom Slips into a Coma, A Look at the Potential Dangers of Herbal Viagra

The tragedy that has left Lamar Odom on life support has turned a spotlight on the potential dangers of so-called herbal Viagra.

Dennis Hof, the owner of the Nevada brothel where Odom was found unconscious, said the former NBA star had been taking herbal Viagra before he was discovered.

Ever since the popular prescription drug Viagra hit the market in 1998, some unscrupulous manufacturers have been trying to cash in on its success.

Products like Herb Viagra, Black Ant King and Stree Overlord are among the 300 herbal Viagra brands available online.

Herbal Viagra, which claims to help enhance a man's sexual performance, is sold on the internet, convenience stores, vitamin shops and even pharmacies. 

But just last year the Food and Drug Administration issued a warning about Goldreallas and some other herbal Viagra because they contain prescription drugs. It urged users to stop taking the product.

The FDA said these kinds of products may sometimes cause stroke, heart attacks, liver damage, kidney failure and death.
