Hope for Paws received a call about the severely matted dog and gained her trust by offering her water and pieces of hamburger, a video of the rescue shows.

After encouraging her to come out, the dog was taken to a shelter and named "Violet." Her hair was filled with fleas and ticks, so she was shaved and washed. She was also treated for anemia and dehydration.

She emerged as a healthy and clean pup - a far cry from how she was found on the streets.

"As her body healed, she transformed into a happy, playful dog!" the rescue group wrote on the video.

She has gone to a foster home, where she is settling in well with other pups.
