Police Are Investigating Cards Saying 'You Are Fat, Ugly' Handed to Women on British Subway
London police are investigating reports of abusive cards saying “You are a fat, ugly human” being handed to women on Underground commuter trains.
Kara Florish wrote on her Twitter account “was handed this card on the underground. is hateful + cowardly + could potentially upset people struggling with confidence.”
The vicious cards are purportedly from a group calling itself “Overweight Haters Ltd” and have been distributed by men riding the subway.
One man, according to Twitter post, ran from a train car after passing a card to a woman who burst into tears.
Young man just got on train at Oxford Circus, gave printed card saying YOU'RE FAT to overweight girl. He jumped off. She read it, & cried.— sean thomas knox (@thomasknox) November 30, 2015
“It’s not really glandular, it’s your gluttony,” the offensive note reads. “We object to the enormous amount of food resources you consume while half the world starves.”
It concludes: “We also object that the beatiful (sic) pig is used as an insult. You are not a pig. You are a fat, ugly human.”
British Transit Police also used Twitter to encourage women who received such cards to contact investigators.
