Secret Service Says It's Investigating After Agent Body Slammed Photographer at Trump Event

Award-winning combat photographer Christopher Morris was knocked to the ground at the rally.

The Secret Service says it’s investigating after an agent was caught knocking a TIME magazine photographer to the ground.

As demonstrators disrupted a Trump rally in Virginia on Monday, photographer Christopher Morris moved out of a pen assigned for the media to take a photo – but was swiftly blocked by an agent.

“Get in the pen!” the agent is heard shouting in footage, and Morris responds by cursing.

The agent appears to choke and slam the photographer to the ground. Morris, an award-winning combat photographer who worked at the White House for nine years, responds by kicking and struggling.

“He grabbed me by the neck!” he shouts.

Some on social media accused the photographer of instigating the fight by cursing at the agent.

“He deserved to be taken down based on his actions,” one wrote. Others disagreed.

Former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino, author of the memoir “The Fight,” analyzed the tape for INSIDE EDITION.

"It seems a lot went wrong on both sides," he said.  "Sometimes the honey approach works better than the vinegar approach and that was a whole lot of vinegar."

The photographer, who is taking a few days off, has since responded in a statement.

“What happened today was very unfortunate and unexpected,” he said. “The rules at Trump events are significantly stricter than other campaigns and make it very difficult to work as a photographer, as many others have pointed out before me.

“I regret my role in the confrontation, but the agent’s response was disproportionate and unnecessarily violent.”

TIME spokesperson said: “We are relieved that Chris is feeling OK, and we expect him to be back at work soon.”
