Wrestling Star Chyna Recorded Rambling Video Message Just Days Before Her Death
A haunting, final message from Chyna to her fans was posted three days before her death.
The once vibrant, wrestling powerhouse slurred her words in the rambling, 13-minute video -- posted to YouTube on Sunday. She also looks as if she has a black eye.
Days after the message, she was gone.
Chyna, born Joanie Laurer, was found dead at her apartment in Redondo Beach, California. A friend told cops that Chyna hadn't answered her phone in days and came to check on her. That's when the friend found her lying in bed. There was no sign of foul play. According to one report, police are investigating Chyna’s death as a possible overdose.
Chyna was a trailblazer nicknamed “the ninth wonder of the world” and one of the WWE’s first female superstars.
The wrestler’s life spiraled downward after her wrestling career came to an end in the early 2000s. She made porn movies and struggled with drugs. She appeared on Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew and admitted that she had abused steroids and snorted cocaine.
Chyna kept her fans updated with frequent YouTube videos. In her final weeks, she was struggling.
In a video posted March 17th, she was battling a severe cough and complained that she's broke, saying: “I didn’t get paid when I was a wrestler and I don’t get paid now.”
According to one report she had been taking medication for anxiety and sleep deprivation.
