Beyonce made a big splash as the last to arrive. As she walked down the red carpet wearing a skin-tight Givenchy gown, her glam squad was there to make sure she was picture perfect.

Actress Claire Danes found a way to perfectly tie fashion and technology together with a dress illuminated by 30 batteries.

Taylor Swift wore a futuristic Louis Vuitton gown, while Lady Gaga's barely-there Versace body suit and jacket caused some double takes.

Actor Idris Elba was one of the co-chairs of the event. He told IE: "I have never been to the Met Gala before so to be chairing it is a big deal. To be here is a big deal. It is very special."

Model Gigi Hadid and singer Zayn Malik looked as if they arrived from the future.

Madonna and Nicki Minaj posed on the red carpet together with Moschino creative director Jeremy Scott.

Jennifer Hudson looked like she was floating on a cloud in a dress made by H&M.

New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez hit the red carpet while former teammate Derek Jeter joked about helping his fiancée Hannah Davis choose her Zuhair Murad Couture dress.

“I picked it out,” he told IE. “I designed it myself."

Fox News host Megyn Kelly made her first trip to the Met Gala where she told IE about her recent private meeting with Donald Trump.

"I was a little nervous walking into Trump Tower didn't know what to expect if he'd be angry,” she said. “He couldn't have been nicer and more gracious. We did not discuss what happened between us."

Today show host Matt Lauer said the party is a nice diversion from covering the news.

"This is the way to get through the crazy season -- to take your mind off of that,” he told IE.

Also at the event, Beyonce and singer Rita Ora put rumors of a rift between them to rest.

Many suspected that Ora could be “Becky with the good hair,” whom Beyonce referred to in her new album, but the 25-year-old British star took a selfie with the “Formation” singer and posted a photo on Snapchat with the caption: “Family.”

The Met Gala was created and curated by Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour.

She told IE: "It's all about the marriage of the hand and the machine... and I'm looking forward to a wonderful night."
