Donald Trump is backing off his shocking claims about President Obama being the founder of ISIS saying it was just "sarcasm.”
After suggesting that Obama and Hillary Clinton were the architects behind the most feared terrorist network in the world, Trump took to his favorite social media platform to announce it was just sarcasm.
Ratings challenged @CNN reports so seriously that I call President Obama (and Clinton) "the founder" of ISIS, & MVP. THEY DON'T GET SARCASM?— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 12, 2016
Trump made the claim about Obama and Clinton several times at various rallies earlier in the week.
He even stuck to his guns when he was given the chance to clarify the remark by conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt Thursday.
“No, I meant he’s the founder of ISIS. I do,” Trump said. “He was the most valuable player. I give him the most valuable player award. I give her, too, by the way, Hillary Clinton.”
Hillary Clinton’s campaign calls Trump's accusations a "false claim" and the White House had a one word response: "Seriously?"
Trump who has been slipping in the polls, could take a “long vacation” after election season should he lose to Clinton.
In a phone interview with CNBC Thursday, Trump said:
“I think we're going to have victory, but we'll see. At the end, it’s either going to work or I’m going to, you know, I’m going to have a very, very nice long vacation,” he said.
