Five-year-old Luiz Sanchez had already written a letter to Santa.

A man wanted in a hit-and-run crash that killed a sleeping 5-year-old boy has been arrested, authorities said.

Jorge Ruiz-Garcia, 28, turned himself in to Los Angeles police for his alleged involvement in the collision that claimed the little boy’s life, according to a statement from the LAPD.

The child’s father had tried to shield his son from a car that plowed through the family’s ground-floor apartment, pinning the dad and his son under its wheels.

Inside the rubble of what had been the family’s home, police found a letter to Santa Claus that had been penned by Luiz Sanchez, asking for a bicycle.

His parents suffered broken bones and his four siblings were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The vehicle, allegedly driven by Vrenda Moreno, 23, rammed into the home after being struck by Ruiz-Garcia, who had pulled a U-turn directly in front of Moreno, causing her to swerve across double-yellow lines and into the house, the LAPD said.

Moreno has been charged with driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter. She is free on $100,000 bail.

Surveillance video showed Ruiz-Garcia’s Saab hitting Moreno’s car, and then driving away, police said. He surrendered to authorities Friday, the LAPD said.

He was charged with a felony hit-and-run charge and has been released on $100,000 bail.
