TV's New 'Bachelorette' on How Being a Lawyer Prepared Her: 'You Have to Have Thick Skin'

Rachel Lindsay has not yet been eliminated from the current season of "The Bachelor."

On Monday night's episode of The Bachelor, Rachel Lindsay survived yet another rose ceremony, but we all know she doesn't make it to the end because she will be the first African-American Bachelorette.

She told Inside Edition she was "speechless and I am not a speechless person. I couldn’t believe that I was the one who was chosen. To be the first African-American Bachelorette is so huge. I'm so excited."

The 31-year-old Dallas attorney starts filming The Bachelorette in March and she’s revealing to Inside Edition how her job as a lawyer helped prepare her for potential backlash as the first black Bachelorette.

“Doing the job that I do, you are constantly criticized and critiqued so you have to learn to develop a thick skin," she said. "They saw something in me that it's such a beautiful opportunity."

She admits she was reluctant to accept the role at first, but now can hardly wait.

"It's not just about being the first but I also get the opportunity to find love again," she said.

While Lindsay moved on in Monday night's episode of The Bachelor, it came with the bombshell elimination of Corrine, the show's so-called villain, who went home in tears.

She made headlines after taking off her bikini top in a previous show.
