Baby Boy Rescued From Rubble Hours After Earthquake Strikes Italy

His two older brothers were also rescued.

Firefighters rescued an infant from the rubble of a home on the Italian resort island of Ischia Tuesday, hours after an earthquake killed at least two people and trapped several others.

The 7-month-old baby, who was only wearing a onesie when he was pulled from the debris, was rescued from the hardest-hit northern part of the island after the 4.0 earthquake struck.

Firefighters also freed the baby boy’s two older brothers Ciro and Mattias, 11 and 8, hours after baby Pasquale was pulled from beneath what remained of their home.

"I promised them that after this was all over we would all go get a pizza together," one rescuer reportedly told Italian television

The children’s father was also rescued and their mother escaped through a window, reports said.

The earthquake hit Monday night during the height of the tourist season. Another 39 were injured and an estimated 2,600 residents have been left homeless, The Associated Press reported.

"A horrible experience, everything was shaking, plunged into darkness, houses were collapsing... a nightmare," one witness wrote on Twitter.
