New Heartbreak for Skater Nancy Kerrigan
Skater Nancy Kerrigan faces more heartbreak; her father is dead and her brother is under arrest for assault and battery. He has pled not guilty. INSIDE EDITION has the story.
There's new heartbreak for former Olympic skater Nancy Kerrigan.
Her father is dead, under mysterious circumstances, and her brother is under arrest.
45-year-old Mark Kerrigan burst into tears at his January 25th arraignment on charges of assault and battery. He pled not guilty.
According to police, the skater's father, 70-year-old Daniel Kerrigan, was found unconscious in his kitchen outside Boston following an argument with his son over who could use the phone.
Police say young Kerrigan "wanted to use the phone and his father would not let him. He said he struggled with his father and put his hands around his father's neck and his father fell to the floor. He said that his father was faking it."
Police say Kerrigan was "intoxicated" and "belligerent and combative" and had to be subdued with "pepper spray."
In 1994, Nancy Kerrigan was clubbed in the right knee just before the U.S. skating championships. The attack was masterminded by the ex-husband of her skating rival, Tonya Harding.
Kerrigan's mother Brenda said there was nothing suspicious about her husband's death. "My God. He had a heart attack. That's what it was," she told the Boston Herald.
Daniel Kerrigan was a welder who worked three jobs to support his daughter's skating career.
