HP CEO Resigns After Company Investigated Claims by Reality Show Cougar
Although Hewlett-Packard said CEO Mark Hurd did not violate its policy on sexual harassment, Hurd resigned; in large part, because of expense irregularities uncovered.
The world is learning more about the former reality show cougar who is behind the scandal rocking the world's largest computer company.
50-year-old Jodie Fisher appeared on NBC's Age of Love in 2007. She was a cougar competing against young women for the affections of tennis star Mark Philippoussis.
But it was Fisher's "close personal relationship" with Hewlett-Packard CEO Mark Hurd that forced him to resign and has sent HP stock tumbling on Wall Street.
"I think it's a culture at Hewlett-Packard of no-nonsense, and this would probably qualify as nonsense," said the hose of CNBC's Mad Money, Jim Cramer.
Hurd allegedly fudged expense reports to conceal his relationship with Fisher, who was hired as a marketing consultant for the giant computer company.
She starred in several R-rated films like 1992's Intimate Obsession.
Fisher filed a sexual harassment complaint against Hurd, but he was cleared of that charge. She now says in a statement:
"I was surprised and saddened that Mark Hurd lost his job over this. That was never my intention...Mark and I never had an affair or intimate sexual relationship. "
"We know that somehow there were some expenses that seemed to be unexplained, of a large variety, a woman who clearly did not produce anything that fell to the bottom line that we can tell," said Cramer.
Fisher is a single mom with a young son. She was once a vice president for a commercial real estate company. She also has a demo reel posted on YouTube, which shows her hosting an exercise video.
INSIDE EDITION spoke to an old friend of Fisher's, former TV personality and psychologist Dr. Wendy Walsh.
"She is gregarious, she is fun-loving, she has a social intelligence that is off the charts, and I think that some men might confuse that with flirting," Dr. Walsh says.
