NFL Report Says Tom Brady Was 'Generally Aware' of Deflategate
A new NFL report said Tom Brady "was at least generally aware of the inappropriate activities" about Deflategate.
New England Patriots superstar quarterback Tom Brady is the talk of the nation after that bombshell NFL report on Deflategate that said it "is more than probable" that he "was at least generally aware of the inappropriate activities."
Now, Brady is firing back in a statement issued from his agent, calling the report "a significant and terrible disappointment" that "contains significant and tragic flaws." [Source: Don Yee, Tom Brady's agent].
Brady was last seen in public Saturday when attending The Kentucky Derby and then the Mayweather / Pacquiao fight later the same day.
Brady is being ridiculed on newspaper front pages as a liar and a cheater.
New York Times columnist William Rhoden said this on CBS This Morning: “A guy on top of the world. He seems to have everything. A family, a legacy, Super Bowl, and still feels so much pressure and the need to cheat.”
Many in the city of Boston are rallying around their hero. Boston Herald sports reporter Jeff Howe is coming to Brady’s defense.
INSIDE EDITION's Diane McInerney asked Howe, "He has always been considered the golden boy. Do you think his image will take a hit?"
He replied, "It will take a small hit but it won't be anything that derails his legacy. If there is a big suspension coming, that is going to be a tough one to shake."
You'll probably remember Deflategate, where 11 out of 12 footballs used by the Patriots were found to be improperly inflated in their victory over the Indianapolis Colts.
Brady vehemently denied he was involved in Deflategate in a press conference before the Super Bowl.
Now it is up to NFL Commissioner Rodger Goodell to decide what punishment, if any, Brady faces.
Sports radio talk show host Jerry Thornton of WEEI in Boston spoke to McInerney.
She asked, "Are there a lot of holes in this investigation?"
He replied, "There are more holes in this investigation than you will find in a spaghetti strainer. At the very least they haven't proven anything. There is no smoking gun."
There is no doubt that Brady's golden boy image has suffered a major hit.
Jimmy Kimmel joked on his show, "This is a good lesson for kids. Kids, if you cheat, if you don't play fair, you will be the MVP of the Super Bowl and marry one of the most beautiful women on Earth."
