Autistic Teen Kicked Off Plane, Deemed Disruptive

Video appears to show Juliette Beegle, 15, behaving calmly before she and her family were asked to get off a plane.

It's the airplane eviction that's sparking fierce debate today.

Did a United Airlines pilot go too far when he kicked an autistic teen off his plane?

One video shows the 15-year-old wearing headphones and calmly walking off the plane, she sure doesn't look like a threat!

INSIDE EDITION caught up with the teen and her dad today, and he's still fuming.

He told INSIDE EDITION, "People don't understand that she's really not a threat. Just odd, you know, awkward, just different."

The family was heading home to Portland after a vacation in Disney World when Juliette got hungry and started making a fuss.

The only thing that seems to calm her is hot food. Her mom, Dr. Donna Beegle, asked for a hot meal, which she was happy to pay for. She says the flight attendants told her it was reserved for first class.

That's when mom warned that Juliette might turn violent.

Finally, she says the flight attendant relented and Juliette was given a hot meal. And it apparently worked. Her mom recorded her right after eating happily watching a show.

But, the pilot diverted the plane to Salt Lake City where it made an emergency landing.

Cops boarded the plane and escorted the family off.

Dr. Beegle told INSIDE EDITION, "They said, 'We have to ask you to get off the plane.' And I said, 'Why?' And he said, 'The captain is uncomfortable flying with your daughter on the flight.'"

Many of the passengers were apparently on Juliette's side. But, others said the pilot made the right call.

United is standing by their pilot, saying, "The crew made the best decision for the safety and comfort of all of our customers and elected to divert to Salt Lake City after the situation became disruptive."

Juliette's mom added, "I feel, just, shocked."
