Josh Duggar on Molestation Allegations: 'I Acted Inexcusably'

Josh Duggar admitted to molesting underage girls, saying, 'I acted inexcusably, for which I am extremely sorry.'

19 Kids and Counting star Josh Duggar didn't want to talk about the paparazzi scandal he is engulfed in. He told them, "No comment," when he was hit with questions.

Josh, the eldest child on the squeaky-clean TLC program, is admitting he molested underage girls when he was a teenager.

The allegations were first reported by In Touch magazine, which cited a police report of "forcible fondling." He was never charged.

The 27-year-old, now a married father of three, said in a statement: "Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably, for which I am extremely sorry. I would do anything to go back to those teen years and take different actions."

He says he confessed his "wrongdoing" to his parents at the time and underwent therapy, along with the girls he molested.

Today, he announced that he was resigning as a lobbyist with the family research council, a conservative pro-family advocacy organization.

The Duggar family has become a huge pop-culture phenomenon since the TLC TV show started in 2008.

It was initially called 17 Kids and Counting but the family outgrew the title.

Members of the family have also been on the cover of People magazine numerous times. The Duggars are known nationally as outspoken advocates of Christian causes.

Josh himself has been photographed with presidential hopefuls Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, and Mike Huckabee.

Huckabee is standing by Josh, saying in a Facebook message, "Josh's actions when he was an underage teen are as he described them himself, 'inexcusable' but that doesn't mean 'unforgivable.' Good people do regrettable and even disgusting things."

Thursday night, before the scandal broke wide open, TLC had aired a family-friendly 19 Kids marathon.

Now there are reports that TLC has pulled the series off their schedule "for the foreseeable future."

TLC has no comment on the incident.
