Heidi Montag's plastic surgeon, Dr. Frank Ryan, was killed in a freak car accident near Malibu, California. INSIDE EDITION has the latest details.
Shocking news about Dr. Frank Ryan—he's been killed in a car crash at age fifty.
He was a maverick Beverly Hills plastic surgeon who became an instant celebrity by performing ten plastic surgeries on reality TV star Heidi Montag, in just one day.
He had bold words in his appearance on the TV show The Doctors saying, "She wanted to be a blonde bombshell. I said, 'okay, let's make you into a blonde bombshell.' I think it took me seven and a half hours."
Dr. Ryan was in his Jeep when it went over the side of the Pacific Coast Highway and fell to the rocks below. Lifeguards rushed to try and save him, but the doctor was pronounced dead at the scene.
His death sent shock waves thorugh the celebrity world. A grieving Heidi Montag tweeted, "I am devastated to hear the news of Dr. Frank Ryan's death. He was an angel and he changed my life and the lives of everyone he met."
A rep for another celebrity patient, TV personality Janice Dickinson, said, "Janice is deeply, deeply anguished! She is stunned and wants the world to know what a genius Dr. Ryan was."
Minutes before his death Monday afternoon, Dr. Ryan sent out a pair of tweets, saying, "After 25 years of driving by, I finally hiked to the top of the giant sand dune on the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) west of Malibu. Much harder than it looks! Whew!"
The second tweet was a photo of his beloved dog, along with this message, "Border collie Jill surveying the view from atop the sand dune."
The dog was in the car with Dr. Ryan when it went over the cliff. She was found in the ocean, injured but still alive.
Could Dr. Ryan have been distracted by tweeting while driving? That's the question some are asking in the wake of this tragedy.
It happened just a few miles from where Mel Gibson had crashed his $100,000 Maserati the day before.
