Skinny Secrets For the New Year

Nutrition expert Joy Bauer, author of Your Inner Skinny, shares simple weight loss tips for the new year. INSIDE EDITION reports.
Looking to shed those extra holiday pounds? Joy Bauer, nutritionist and author of Your Inner Skinny, has simple tips to lose weight fast.
Get your head in the game," says Bauer. "Dieting and losing weight is 50 per cent attitude."
1) Lose the liquid calories.
"If you were to lose one 20-ounce soda each and every day for one month, you would save yourself 7,500 calories and about 10 cups of straight sugar," explains Bauer.
2) Lose the top slice of bread on your sandwich and save 100 calories.
3) Start your dinner with a fiber-rich vegetable.
"Research shows that between the fiber and the water content it expands in your belly, starting to fill you up, which means you are likely to eat less when you get to the main meal," Bauer says.
Bauer says it's also easy to eat out and eliminate unnecessary calories.
4) Pick a skinny starter.
"Order either a shrimp cocktail or a house salad with oil and vinegar. Shrimp are loaded with protein and are only about eight calories apiece."
5) Choose healthy entrees and eat fruit for dessert.
For your entrée, enjoy grilled chicken or fish, and for a figure-friendly dessert try fresh fruit and a cup of herbal tea.
According to Bauer, you can even eliminate fat and calories from pizza: "Take a paper napkin and gently blot the top of your pizza, you can actually remove quite a bit of grease, fat, and calories with this one simple trick."
Add these tips to your New Year's resolution and you will be fit and fabulous in no time!
