The Good Husband? Man Stands By Politician Wife After She Admits to Affair With Fellow Lawmaker
Cindy Gamrat, a Republican representative in Michigan, has apologized for her affair with fellow politician Todd Courser.
You've heard of "The Good Wife,” now meet "The Good Husband."
Cindy Gamrat, 42, an up-and-coming state representative from Michigan, has admitted to an extra-marital affair with a fellow lawmaker, Todd Courser, 43, who is also married with four children.
At a press conference, she wiped away tears as she spoke about her husband, Joe, and their three children. Her husband stood beside her as she apologized.
“I am sincerely sorry that I have disappointed so many with my actions," she said. "I just want to thank my family. My husband is here, Joe. I have three children and they are amazing.”
She added: “My husband and I have been receiving counsel from family and close friends and marriage counselors.”
Both Gamrat and Courser are Tea Party Republicans and shared an office together.
Courser tried to cover up the affair but is now fessing up and issued a public apology in a recording.
He said: “I've let so many people down, but there's also another group, excuse me that I need to ask for forgiveness from and that is Representative Gamrat and her family and especially her husband.”
But the adulterous lawmakers say they won't resign.
They've now joined a long list of sex scandal couples that include former New York Governor Elliot Spitzer and then-wife Silda in 2008.
There was also former Congressman Anthony Weiner, whose wife Huma stood by him in 2010.
Scandals like those have given inspiration to the CBS series, The Good Wife.
