Chris Christie Says He Might Go 'Nuclear' During Next GOP Debate
Chris Christe plans to do better in the next GOP debate and seemed to be offended by a Jimmy Fallon joke.
Republican presidential hopeful Chris Christie, who is trailing badly in the polls, sat down with Jimmy Fallon on Monday night.
Talk turned to the GOP debate last month.
Fallon joked with Christie: “I was waiting for you to talk.”
Christie laughed and replied: “Me too!”
He added: “There was a point where I went 20 questions in a row without being asked a question and that's hard.”
But the combative governor said he doesn't plan on letting Donald Trump dominate the next debate coming up.
He declared on The Tonight Show: “Stay tuned, on September 16th, we may be changing tactics. If I get to 15 in a row, count them at home, if I get to 15 in a row, they are going to go, ‘Uh oh, he's going to go nuclear now.’”
Fallon then cheered Christie on: “That's what I'm talking about! That's what I'm talking about! That's what we want to see!”
But there was an awkward moment during the interview when Fallon joked about Christie’s love of ice cream.
Christie seemed offended and walked off the set, waving to the crowd saying: “Goodnight, everybody.”
After Fallon pleaded to get the New Jersey Governor back, Christie said: “If I ever leave public life, you're going to have to hire two writers just to replace the garbage you say about me.”
