15-Year-Old Arrested for Plotting 'ISIS-Inspired' Attack on Pope Francis

A 15-year-old outside of Philadelphia was arrested for plotting to attack Pope Francis during his trip to America.
The FBI arrested a 15-year-old boy outside of Philadelphia for allegedly plotting an ‘ISIS-inspired’ attack on Pope Francis when he visits the city next week during his first tour of America.

The arrest took place last month but the bust has only just been uncovered in a briefing by ABC News.
“The minor was inspired by [ISIS] and sought to conduct a detailed homeland attack which included multiple attackers, firearms, and multiple explosives, targeting a foreign dignitary at a high-profile event,” according to a joint intelligence bulletin by the FBI and Department of Homeland Security which was issued to law enforcement across the country on August 14, according to ABC.
The “foreign dignitary” mentioned in the release is Pope Francis, according to reports.
“The minor obtained explosives instructions and further disseminated these instructions through social media,” according to the joint intelligence bulletin.
The unnamed teen was charged with attempting to provide material support to a terrorist organization and attempting to provide material support to terrorist activity, the bulletin added.
Pope Francis will visit Washington, D.C., New York City, and Philadelphia during his first trip to the United States. When he arrives in New York it will be during the annual UN General Assembly. Thousands of extra NYPD officers and Secret Service will be on duty during his visit.

CBS also reports that the airspace around New York City will also be restricted and there will be a flotilla of security boats on the Hudson and East rivers.
New York City Police Commissioner Bill Bratton called the ordeal "the largest security challenge the department and this city have ever faced."
