A Bronx woman allegedly killed her baby girl Thursday by throwing the child out of an apartment window while she yelled about “the Lord,” a police source said.
Officers responding to a 911 call of an unconscious baby discovered the six-month-old girl unresponsive on the pavement on Tiebout Avenue near East 183rd Street in Fordham Heights about 1:50 p.m., police said.
The baby was rushed to St. Barnabus Hospital, but she could not be saved, authorities said.
A witness told police the mother, 27, yelled that the child was going to the lord before tossing her out of the window, the police source told INSIDE EDITION.
The mother, identified as Tenisha Fearon by The New York Daily News, which reported that the woman told family members she thought “the devil was in her” before she tossed infant, identified by the News as Junilah Lawrence, out her sixth-floor window.
The woman’s three older children, a 10-year-old boy and two girls, ages eight and four, were discovered unharmed by police inside the apartment, a police source said.
Police said a woman was taken into custody at the scene. She was brought to Bronx Lebanon Hospital for medical evaluation, the News wrote.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing and charges were pending, police said.
The Thursday incident occurred just two and a half weeks after a 33-year-old woman was charged with the murder of her newborn after she allegedly threw the child out a window on W. 183rd St. in University Heights.
Jennifer Berry allegedly tossed the baby, which still had the umbilical cord attached, shortly after the child was born, officials said.
