What Did 'Back to the Future' Get Right About 2015?
Fans of 'Back to the Future' are celebrating the day Marty McFly entered the future in the film's popular sequel.
October 21, 2015 is the day Marty McFly and Doc Brown travelled to in the 1989 cult classic Back to the Future Part II.
So strap yourself into your nearest DeLorean and set the machine to go at 1.21 Gigawatts and let’s see how the movie did with their predictions.
In the film, Michael J. Fox’s character Marty McFly wears “Smart Glasses” which are not far off from Google Glass.

The movie also shows video chats, which thanks to the power of Skype and Facetime, is a reality now.
The writers of the sequel predicted that a food hydrator will cook a pizza in no time. Today, rapid cook ovens can prepare one in 90 seconds
Some predictions like a hover board and self-tying laces are not a reality – yet. They are both still in the development stages with some companies.
There were some misses. There are no flying cars yet and Marty is still using a pay phone. Clearly no one thought of smart phones in Back to The Future.
But the mother of all predictions is the Cubs winning the World Series.
That still may be a fantasy if the Mets have anything to do with it, as the Chicago team trails New York three games to zero.

There are also other pop culture similarities that occur in today’s world which resemble the world of McFly’s future.

As Doc Brown says in the film: “It could mean that that point in time inherently contains some sort of cosmic significance. Almost as if it were the temporal junction point for the entire space-time continuum. On the other hand, it could just be an amazing coincidence.”
